When is the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony?
FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place on January 11, 2016. It will be the sixth year for FIFA's awards.
Where is the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony being held?
The ceremony will take place at Zurich's Kongresshaus, a famoust concert hall in Swiss City.
Who is favorite to win Ballon d'Or?
That's a very important question of the whole event! Messi is a staggering 1-40 on to claim the title for the fifth time. Neymar is 16-1, while Ronaldo is a distant 33-1.
Any possibility of an upset?
Normally, you'd think that the presence of the two deadly Barcelona strikers would split up the title and will let Ronaldo through. But with Real Madrid being trophy-less in 2015, all the Portuguese star has to bolster his claim because of the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo dominated Raul's Real Madrid scoring record a few months ago.
Any chances of Neymar to win Ballon d'Or?
Just being nominated is a good result for him - he's the first Brazilian to get nominated for the prestigious award since Kaka won the title in 2007. Although it is very rare for him to get the award this year, but if he carries on with his performances, there's a fair chance that he can claim the award in the next seven years.
What other awards would be given out on the ceremony night?
The following awards would be given out on the night of the Ballon d'Or ceremony.
1. Women Player of the year award.
2. Coach of the year award. ( Both for male and female coach)
3. Best moment of the night
4. Puskas Award for the best goal of the year.
Then who has the most chance to win the Puskas Award?
James Rodriguez won the Puskas Award for the best goal of the year previously, Messi's strike in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Balbao would probably be the winner for the title. Moreover Lionel Messi is 3-10 with the bookies.
But given that its decided by public vote Messi's popularity makes this a no-contest. You can watch Messi's goal here:
Women's World Player of the year award: Who are the nominees?
The nominees are Carli Lloyd of the USA, Aya Miyama of Japan and Celia Sasic of Germany. But Carli Lloyd is the front runner. She also earned the Golden Ball at the Women's World Cup last year. She is unlucky that her goal from half-way in the World Cup final didn't make it to the final three of the Puskas Award, but it is obvious that she won't leave the night empty handed!
What about the Men's World Coach of the year?
The three nominees for Men's World Coach of the year world are Barcelona's mastermind Luis Enrique; Bayern Munich's title winning Pep Guardiola; and Chile's Copa America winning Jorge Sampaoli. Enrique will be a shoo in after guiding his men to the treble, but Sampoli may get the award for his achievement for derailing Argentina in Copa America.
The finalists for Women's World Coach of the year award are Jill Ellis from USA, Mark Sampson from Wales and Norio Sasaki from Japan. The USA's Jill Ellis is as much of a shoo-in as Carli Lloyd, having guided her players to a third Women's World. The Welsh coach, Mark Sampson got England all the way to the semi-finals when the national side had never even previously won in a match in the tournament's knockout stages. Pretty Astonishing! Norio Sasaki led his team to the World Cup final which Japan won of 2011 and the 2012 Olympic football final.
