Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak made a brilliant, superb save in 4th minute to prevent Gareth Bale scoring. Similarly he showed many of the his brilliant displays to prevent Real Madrid scoring. Jan Oblak prevented Cristiano Ronaldo Fizzling Free kick from passing through the goal post in the 9th minute. Then a shot was played by Gareth Bale which was similarly denied.

After these two, James Rodriguez was also similarly denied by Oblak. James made two attempts to put the ball into the net- the first one was from his splendid left foot.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez said that the Referee was "Very Bad" during their first leg of UEFA Champions League quarter final which ended in a goalless draw. He further added that he should never have been put in charge of such a High-Profile Fixture. During his match, Mazic booked five players which included Mario Suarez, Mandzukic and Raul Garcia from Atletico Madrid and Marcelo and Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid in the minutes 85',55',80',89' and 80' respectively.
However Mazic and his assistants did not perform any action on two events of the game- when Atletico Madrid's center-forward Mario Mandzukic was left bodied after being hit by Sergio Ramos's arm and when Mandzukic was bitten on the arm and punched in the stomach by Carvajal.
In the end, both sides played extremely well but result will be further observed on 2nd Leg of UEFA Champions League Quarter Final on April 22nd,2015.
