Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid may face Barcelona-like transfer ban for foreign players under 18 years
According to reports, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid ‘both
are facing a transfer ban’ for not compiling with FIFA licenses. Both the
Madrid rivals denied any wrong doing and said that all their licenses complied
with FIFA rules and regulations.
FIFA decided to impose a transfer embargo on both of the
Madrid rivals similar to that of Barcelona which was sanctioned on them.
Barcelona’s ban has ended by the month of January of year 2015. FIFA imposed a
transfer embargo on Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid on the transfer of foreign
Under 18 players but denying the fact, Atletico spokesman asked about the
claim, “We have no information regarding that. We collaborated with Fifa in the
investigation at all times. We are sure that we acted correctly … all the
licenses were processed after approval from the Madrid soccer federation and
the Spanish soccer federation.”
Real Madrid also confirmed by saying that FIFA has requested
for the records of Real Madrid players but reported that they complied with
FIFA rules and regulations.
On hearing this, Real Madrid denied the news by saying this
news as “absolutely false” and “malicious”. Real Madrid spokesman also said “Real
Madrid reiterates again its full commitment to the defence, protection and
proper and healthy development of children taking precedence over sporting
interests.”
Similarly FIFA spokesperson also said that we are not in a
position to comment on such going activities and no information can be further
provided regarding this.
